Professor Asoo Vakharia's Biography

Asoo J. Vakharia is the Beall Professor of Supply Chain Management and Director of the Center for Supply Chain Management in the Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida.  He has Ph.D. and M.B.A. degrees in Operations Management from the University of  Wisconsin and a B.COM. in Accounting and Economics from Bombay University.  Asoo's research primarily focuses on contemporary issues in Supply Chain Management (such asdisruption management, new product introduction, and design for sustainability).  He has published papers in several academic journals including the Decision Sciences Journal, the European Journal of Operational of Operational Research, IIE Transactions, the Journal of Discrete Applied Mathematics, the Journal of Operations Management, the Naval Research Logistics Journal, and the Production & Operations Management Journal.  He is the Editor for the Decision Sciences Journal, and a Senior Editor for the Production and Operations Management Journal. Asoo's teaching interests are in Operations Management, Manufacturing Planning and Control, Design of Manufacturing Systems, Management of Service Operations, Operations Strategy, Management Science, International Logistics, Transportation and Logistics Systems, and MPC/ERP Systems Integration.  He has also been involved in Executive Teaching through the Arizona Executive Program, the Arizona Executive Development Course, the Florida Executive MBA Program, the Florida Flexible MBA Program, the Florida Internet MBA Program, the Florida Executive Scientists and Engineers Program, Florida Professional MBA Program, and the Florida Corporate AT&T MBA Program.  Asoo has also taught industry specific executive development courses through the President's Seminar Series for Greyhound Financial Corporation, the President's Academy and Managerial Decision Analysis for Tucson Electric Power Company, the Operations Excellence Program for AT&T Universal Card Services, the Quality Analysis and Statistical Methods Program for Citibank Universal Card Services and the Operations/Financial Analysis Program for AT&T Solutions Customer Care.

In addition to his academic experience, he has managed the operations and financial aspects of a leather goods manufacturer.  He has also been a Management Consultant specializing in inventory audits, carrying out feasibility analysis of new ventures and writing procedure manuals for banking clients.  After joining academia, he has worked with several companies including AT&T Solutions Customer Care, e-Diets.com, Golden Eagle Distributors, Garrett Air Research, Motorola, Sweetheart Cups, Inc., University of Arizona Medical Center, and Vistakon, Inc.

Mr. Chang-Sheng Lin's Biography

Chang-Sheng Lin, CEO of Uni-President Group, joined Uni-President Enterprises Corp. in 1968 and held various management positions such as manufacture, marketing and planning, later becoming executive Vice President, President, CEO since 2003.  Mr. Lin has devoted his career to benefiting Uni-President Group, which included President Chain Store Co. (7-11), Presicarre Co., He also is Chairman of President Coffee Co. (Starbucks), President Profession Baseball Team Co., President Transnet Co. and President Holding Company in China.

Uni-President Enterprises Corp. (established in 1967, Taiwan) beginning with flour manufacturing, animal feed, edible oils, beverages and dairy products and many other consumer foods.  Through a commitment to high growth and steady diversification, in thirty years UPEC has gradually expanded into China with 46 business units.
